In the heart of historic Sopot, within a residential building dating back to 1925, an apartment has been reimagined as a space where the architectural charm of the past meets a contemporary approach to interior design. The vision was to preserve the spirit of the place while introducing an entirely new level of functionality and a distinctly modern identity.
The project involved a complete transformation of the apartment, including a comprehensive reconfiguration of the floor plan and a redefinition of how each room is used. The new layout creates an open, seamlessly connected living area that brings together the kitchen, dining room, and lounge, while maintaining a sense of intimacy and privacy in the bedroom area.
Special attention was given to preserving the building’s authentic architectural features. The original wooden window frames were carefully recreated, restoring their historic character and proportions. The preserved original doors leading to the bedroom became one of the interior’s defining features—a subtle reminder of the building’s heritage and, at the same time, a striking architectural detail.

The interior design embraces refined materials and timeless combinations. Calacatta marble, Chapel wood flooring, and carefully selected finishes in shades of white, charcoal gray, and black create an elegant, balanced backdrop for designer furniture and contemporary art. The contrast between historic architectural details and minimalist forms gives the interior a distinctive, unexpected character.
Art plays an essential role in the design, serving not merely as decoration but as an integral part of the overall concept. Expressive paintings, sculptural furniture, and iconic lighting pieces shape the apartment’s atmosphere, giving it the feel of a private art collection where everyday living and art naturally intertwine.
The result is an apartment that does not attempt to recreate the past but instead engages in a thoughtful dialogue with it, bringing together Sopot’s architectural heritage, contemporary design, and the residents’ individual lifestyle.
